Indecision

See this well-worn cliff

A rock against the wind

Proving nothing to itself

Unable to return to genesis

Unwilling to move on

I call it a cliff, but it is free fall

Ground with no gravity

So what is its use?

I writhe against myself

Spinning out in directionless haste

My unsettling unrest pressing outward

Stuck

I feel stuck

There is no coming of age

Without coming to terms

With the divide of dream and reality

Society and self

These themes of life played over and

Overdone - but somehow understated

A lesson never learned so easy

I can't learn not to fall if I never hit the ground

Must not there be another way?

Gulls fly in the sunset

Singing, "No, no

To fly you must fall

No, no."

But I forget my place

I am not alone

A well-worn cliff does not erode in solitude

For the world around changes with it

The gulls leave me behind

But here are those who breathe my air

Who walk this sand

And here is this sunset

Pulling night over my eyes

That when the magic trick is over

It will reappear in the east

And I will be watching

Until my feet itch with heartache

And I go
