Magical Cairo Opera House: A Jewel of Egyptian Culture and Arts
The Cairo Opera House is also known as the Egyptian Opera House in Arabic, and is primarily part of the National Culture Center in Cairo. It is located on a small island in the Nile River known as Gezira Island, which is located slightly west of downtown Cairo.
It is undoubtedly Cairo’s premier venue for the performing arts, and the preferred venue for most of Egypt’s major bands and other performers. If you are booking one of our Cairo tour packages and would like to attend a show at the Opera House, please inform our Customer Service Department or your appointed tour guide.
No matter what time of year you choose to visit Egypt, you can be almost certain that some event or other will be taking place at the Cairo Opera House while you are there. This in itself makes it one of the best attractions in Cairo. The main hall accommodates 1,200 seats, with seating distributed on 4 levels in addition to a presidential cabin. The hall is used almost exclusively for Orchestral performances, opera performances, and ballet performances.
In addition to the main hall, the Cairo Opera House also has a small hall that can accommodate up to 500 people. Unlike the main hall which had several floors, the small hall only had one floor. This smaller hall is usually used as a music and concert room, although it is also sometimes used as a large, spacious reception hall to host a variety of important events.
