The Race and Ethnicity Form

My daughters brought home that blue sheet again
Asking about their race. I'll say the same thing again
My children and family, we're of the human race
But they want more specifics just to make their case
Are you african, caucasian, hispanic or asian?
What difference does it make in regards to their education?
These statistics that you're taking- just what are they for?
Maintaining animosity from the east coast to west shore?
Will you not offer my children the same education
Whether they're african, caucasian, hispanic or asian?
I have taught my daughters to respect all mankind
We are all brothers and sisters and to all skin-color be kind
Judge a person by their integrity and the actions they create
And when you want to make a difference, don't leave it up to fate
Our leaders and politicians want to divide us for control
But we must stick together. We are stronger as a whole
So, I'll continue to teach my children about the hatred of the past
And how there are still those among us who want the hatred to last
They're gathering their statistics to lump you into a group
Let's stop them from creating history into a loop
Refuse to be labeled by stereotypes that divide
When we all do this, racism won't be able to hide
We will all be treated equally and fairly some day
When race is not a factor and this questionnaire goes away
