And it will go on and on
The looks, the leers
The downward smiles of bystanders
Who cannot control their projections
Their fears
Their hatred.
Onto us, a brown woman and a white man
Holding hands.
Taking time to be together
Shut out our worries
Yet here they are, through eyes of scorn.
I am not mad, afraid or confused.
I know why, I understand
Empathsize with others, they say.
Which is hard when anger is thrown your way.
Little do they know that Moana and I are the same
Polynesian descent and trying to escape.
But.
It is not a one way street.
For every color may judge another.
Sometimes it is not me who receives the glare.
So.
We should think and ask: equality. Where does it start?
For some, it starts by accepting someone’s date night.
