It's so exciting! Your new kitchen design is coming together. But before you order all your finishes, including a new sink, you need to know how it all works with your new counters.
The great news is that The Countertop Shop has the knowledge and experience to add custom granite or quartz countertops to your Perrysburg or Toledo home with the sink style of your choice.
Traditional Drop-In Sink
If you have chosen a drop-in sink for your new countertops, its measurement will be needed when we come out to your home to create the template. The hole for the sink is cut out of the granite or quartz slab during the fabrication process.
After the counters are slid into place on your cabinet base, the sink is dropped into the prepared hole. The edges are sealed with resin. Holes are cut for the faucets and the taps are also dropped into place.
Some sinks may need additional bracing underneath. Support braces are fixed to the cabinets using screws.
Contemporary Undermount Sink
The trend of adding an undermount sink to your new kitchen continues to be a popular decor option that perfectly complements your quartz or granite counters.
Like the drop-in, the hole for the sink is created when we cut out the rest of your custom counter. You need to have the new sink available for measurement when we make your template.
The sink is mounted to supports affixed to the inside of the cabinets before your counters arrive. Silicone and resin is used to seal the seam between the counter and the sink rim. The holes for your faucets are cut on installation day.
Farmhouse Apron Sink
Like the undermount, a farmhouse sink must be installed on the cabinet base before a template is created. Your cabinetmaker will have a special base made with a section of the front cut away to show off the apron of your new sink.
The farmhouse sink is supported underneath by braces fixed to the interior of the cabinets. The custom quartz or granite countertop slides into place on top of the edges of the sink. The holes for the faucets may be cut at the fabrication shop or during installation--depending on the design of your unit.
Just remember that no matter which type of sink you want, it must be purchased and at your home when The Countertop Shop team comes to measure the kitchen to create the template. We are as excited as you to see a beautiful new granite or quartz countertop and stunning sink in your Toledo or Perrysburg home soon!
