I wonder who it was that dictated women over 40 should cut their hair. If it were a woman, perhaps she had a disappointing or non-existent sex life as her 39th year came to a close. We all know that long, flowing locks are considered sexy and vampy and enticing, and anyone that thinks a woman in her 40’s can’t let her hair down inside or out of the boudoir is definitely mistaken.

I, for one, plan to be one of those little old ladies with fashionably ripped jeans and silver streaks through my long, curly hair. Or perhaps I’ll dye it brilliant red and wear purple lipstick and big gold hoops in my ears. Maybe I’ll even pierce my nose.

You see, I might not have as much hair as I did in my 20’s, but what’s left of it is mine to do with as I wish. And I plan to be “letting my hair down” for a few more decades yet.
