FITNESS

Over the years I tried different ways of getting in shape. One year it was swimming. Another year it was in the gym with a trainer. The year following, I was a hula-hooping fanatic with my Wii Fit. Through each phase though, changing my eating habits always seemed impossible.
The fall and winter of 2012 found me at the hot yoga studio at least five times a week, sweating profusely while attempting two dozen ways of folding myself into a pretzel. At home after class, exhausted and slightly nauseous, the last thing I wanted was a bowl of Half Baked ice cream, opting instead for a barrel sized jug of water, scrambled eggs and a bit of salad. So, although hot yoga saved me from Ben and Jerry, there was a bigger lesson to take away when spring arrived and the yoga pants were two sizes smaller. There really is no way to out-exercise a bad diet. And although the foodie in me felt like pouting, my tiny, slowly emerging muscles were cheering.
Abs really are built in the kitchen…microscopic as they may start out.
