Unattractive Qualities

We’ve all seen it on social media, that photo phenomenon cleverly referred to as duckface. All it takes is a single scroll through Facebook to find abhorrent examples of this narcissistic trend. I would be interested to know who started it – then I could write them a strongly worded message in the hopes of wiping that pretend pout right off their face.

Young girls are learning early on about vanity and arrogance and what angle to tilt their heads under the bathroom lights, phones held out to capture the “perfect selfie”. I’d like to tell them all that |self-confidence is not derived by the number of likes and shares garnered on Facebook. I’d tell them how beautiful they look when their natural smiles light up their faces. And I’d tell them they are giving ducks around the world a bad name.
